Key Features

Stem succulents with spines, and these sometimes surrounded by glochids.  Sepals grade into petals; these ‘tepals’ are numerous as are the stamens.  Fruits are inferior. Foliar leaves are typically lacking except near the stem tips where they are caudicus.
